Finedale Foods highlights commitment to British eggs

Finedale Foods is proud to emphasise that as a food manufacturer we use only British eggs in our products.
Amid warnings from the British Egg Industry Council (BEIC) about the safety of imported eggs, we would like to reassure our customers that we only ever use eggs from British suppliers.
This gives us confidence in the quality and safety standards of the eggs we use, along with supply chain guarantees.
As a specialist quiche manufacturer
As a food manufacturer to the foodservice and retail sectors, making quiches, baked goods, sweet treats and other products, we get through more than 200,000 eggs every year. Each one is British – produced to British safety standards.
MD of Finedale Foods, Edward Miles, said: “Finedale Foods and its brands, such as Frank Dale Foodservice, are proud to use British eggs in the manufacture of our products.
“We’re a trusted and reliable manufacturer of a wide range of products that use eggs, including quiches and cakes.
“We would echo the advice of the British Egg Industry Council for food service operators to check the source of the eggs and any ready-made products that contain eggs of anything that they serve to ensure that they are British.”
British Egg Industry Council advice
The BEIC is concerned about the rising number of imported eggs being used by foodservice businesses. These could be produced to lower food safety standards than the British Lion and may lead to an increase in the type of food safety outbreaks that have been seen across Europe.
Nick Allen, chief executive, British Egg Industry Council, said: “We’re seeing a worrying rise in imported eggs entering the UK, many from countries where food safety issues have arisen. These eggs don’t get close to matching the safety standards of British Lion eggs. Last year, eggs from Poland were directly linked to Salmonella cases here in the UK, and there are ongoing serious issues in Europe involving eggs from Ukraine and elsewhere.
“We are urging food businesses to check their egg sourcing very carefully. Their reputation, and more importantly, their customers’ health, could depend on it.”
